Never have I been accosted on the street before with such a positive outcome. Luke approached us in the street, but wasn't pushy, and asked if we wanted to try a river tour. We were interested and took him up on his offer and he gave us a voucher. We wandered down to the Mooring Cafe & Bar , got booked on and to our surprise had Luke as a tour guide. He was fantastic, knowledgeable and full of banter. He tried to engage with everyone on the boat, always making sure everyone enjoyed their experience. After the tour was done, we arrived back again at the Mooring bar to sample some of the delicious cocktails that were designed by Rosie (including the best cocktail I've ever had, The Hive mind). Verity served us and was fantastic, despite being new to the team. Overall, a great experience. Even when the kitchen was closed, they sorted us out with some pitta and hummus to keep our hunger at bay. A worthwhile visit.

This place is well worth the visit. We had a few drinks in the bar whilst we waited for our punting tour. Sebastian was our tour guide, who was full of knowledge about the city and had some good banter to go with it. I would highly recommend the tour, location and the the service of this hidden gem. It's a great way to see Canterbury from the river.

Great little cafe and/or bar (your choice) right on the river. In summer, watch moorhens building their nests as you sip your flat white and eat your carrot and courgette cake (SO good!). In winter, cosy up with a plate of steaming crumpets and a coffee or, later, red wine and watch the punts still passing, everyone well wrapped up. What a find. Food is fabulous - totally delicious. Staff cool as cucumbers

They are really nice staff, I had the cloudy apple juice was really nice. They gave us 20% off for a small delay and I love it. The options are nice and I would really recommend it to people visiting they also do punning. The fish finger sandwich was delicious! I ate it so quickly because it was so nice

Great new space for Canterbury with good food and a chill vibe. Once you get down into the basement there's a good amount of space and easy access to the bar. Good selection of games too so had a fun time trying something new with friends! Would definitely come back :)

Such a cosy atmosphere in a gorgeous historic building. Not only a great space to play boardgames but we've taken part in a couple of evening events of Blood on the Clocktower which is tons of fun and a good way to meet other gamers. Definitely will be back and recommend the Dungeons & Dragons themed speciality teas!

Such a lovely atmosphere, super welcoming and kind. Lovely table with plenty of room for a big game and our drinks etc. We're a family of 4, with two 11 years olds, who also loved it. 4-7pm slot was perfect for us. Found an amazing vintage Pokémon game that we all enjoyed. Amazing game library. Great selection of teas. We're local and will definitely be going back!

Great night with friends in this very old building. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Really appreciated the offer of gluten free and dairy free dishes on offer and the flexibility in offering whatever we wanted. Great cocktails too! Would definitely go again. Worth a night out with friends, a few drinks, snacks and a great choice of games. Thank you!

13/11/21- Another lovely lunch with with my daughter today. We’re always made to feel very welcome and the staff and service is always excellent. Loving the homemade cakes. 13/04/21- Lovely lunch at Phoebes. Good range on menu, large sandwiches/baguette/panini selection. Salads, omelette and jacket potato’s and breakfast menu before 11.30. All reasonably priced. Delicious homemade cakes, perfect with my Americano. Fantastic customer service and the owner was lovely. 14/04/21- My 7 year old daughter was so happy with yesterday’s visit, she insisted we came back again today. The food and service is excellent again and the space is Covid secure with a lovely sun trap court yard. Lots of space and social distance with a warm welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended, well worth a visit.

My Wife and I had been going into Phoebes for quite some time, always enjoying the lovely lunch selection, afternoon tea and amazing cakes on offer. We loved it all so much we asked the wonderful owner (Lesley) if she could make our cakes for our wedding. She was more than happy to accept and provided us with the most wonderful wedding cake and cupcakes, they really stole the show on the big day. Lesley made the whole process really easy on us and was happy to work with whatever we wanted, we even got to do a little cake tasting! We are so grateful for everything Lesley has done for us and our big day, and we will always be happy customers returning back to Phoebes for more sandwiches and afternoon teas!

What a treat this was! Incredible food & drinks selection and even though the particular treat I came for had sold out, the wonderful staff there put something special together for me which was so delicious! Also made my husband another drink on the house as he had mistakenly ordered the wrong thing…no fuss what so ever and even when he insisted on paying for it, they said not to which was so lovely. Really went above and beyond for us and I can not wait to return many more times in the future. For the glorious food and drink, for the stunning layout and display of the restaurant and for the beautiful people working there and making it so warm and welcoming! Thank you very much 😊

Literally our favourite place in the whole of Canterbury! We're here at least once a week. If we lived in town we'd be here every single day. The food is amazing, the coffee is perfect and the girls couldn't do enough for you. Please support a local family business

Everything was incredible. If you would like to experience Greek culture this is the perfect place to go to. The pastry and coffee have absolutely no difference of that of Greece. Lovely atmosphere, very chilled out place, service is excellent, extremely friendly people. I would highly recommend.

I think I fell in love with this little cozy Coffee shop! The girls who worked there when we came were lovely. The place inside si small but a lot of natural light comes in so you don't really feel suffocated and there are outdoors benches and tiny tables. I took a Chai Latte and my boyfriend took a Long Black. We added a bag of coffee from their little shop, because it was a very interesting blend. The lady asked us if we wanted the beans grounded and then proceeded asking for what purpose was the coffee(to get the best grounding level). I found it very professional. The Chai is made with a mixed powder a little spiced. I usually don't take Chai when it's a powder because it comes out very sweet but this was one of the best Chai Latte I've ever had. So if you are like me, don't worry about taking this one, even if it's in powder!! The spices blended so well with the taste. And my partner was happy with the taste of his coffee too. Extra bonus for the aesthetic

Fringe and Ginge in Canterbury is a must-visit coffee shop that truly stands out. Their flat whites are smooth and velvety, with a perfect balance of espresso strength and creamy milk, while their mochas deliver a rich, chocolatey flavor that blends harmoniously with the coffee’s bold notes. Both drinks are topped with expert latte art, showcasing the baristas’ skill and attention to detail. The selection of bakery items is equally impressive, featuring freshly baked pastries, cakes, and other sweet treats that are hard to resist. Whether you’re in the mood for a buttery croissant or a decadent slice of cake, the quality is always top-notch. The staff contribute significantly to the café’s appeal. They’re super friendly, engaging, and incredibly efficient, managing the steady stream of customers with a smile. It’s easy to see why Fringe and Ginge is a local favorite—the place is often packed, creating a vibrant, bustling atmosphere. The only downside is the limited seating inside, which can fill up quickly, so it might be best to arrive early or grab a takeaway. Adding to its charm, the café is dog-friendly, welcoming four-legged companions with open arms. This small touch makes it a wonderful spot for dog owners looking to relax with a quality cup of coffee in a lively, community-oriented setting. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience some of the best coffee and baked goods Canterbury has to offer!

Lovely relaxed cafe with outdoor seating too to enjoy the sunny weather. Menu has lots of choice for all dietary requirements and dogs very welcome. Food and drinks always excellent and very generous portion sizes. The only downside is having to decide which ONE of the fabulous cakes to have! 😄 There are always so many great options to choose from.

Just wanted to share my experience of this wonderful venue, I have been coming here for around 14 years, and its always been a favourite of mine, from their delicious sandwiches and cakes to their super coffee and excellent table service, It does get very busy in the summer times, and is popular with dog owners and walkers as well as young mums and their children, often on the way home from school. Yesterday I was in need of a light lunch and so took a friend out for a drive in the country and came here, to avoid the city as on an overcast and pretty windy day, the city is not the best place to be. I chose a 'Very Berry ice-cream Milkshake' and a BLT, I know from having breakfast there in the past their tomatoes are super sweet and really juicy, and their bread is fresh and wholesome too. My friend had a health salad bowl and a glass of tap water. As always the staff were helpful and super friendly chatting to everyone that came in and showing them to a table. I cam in at 12:30 expecting it to be rammed but there were a few tables free and we were quickly seated. £15 for two of us was very reasonable considering we had a salad and a drink. There were a number of happy looking babes in arms and young mum's out with their parents, so it made a convivial atmosphere, and when we left the Sun finally made an appearance. I keep going back as the food is brilliant, the staff and great and the atmosphere is always friendly. See you there soon.

Visited on a friends recommendation and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Ordered an iced latte, iced americano and babychino for drinks and all were superb! The most difficult part was choosing what cake to order with our coffees. We went with a scone (was perfect) and a brownie both or which were excellent quality. I will 100% recommend and return when in and around the area

Lovely cafe in the heart of Canterbury. The space inside is not a lot but there is a large covered terrace where it’s very pleasant to enjoy a meal or a drink. The food we ordered was nice, but the waiting time was quite long I would say (half an hour for some eggs). Nice cakes and teas too. I would stop again in a less busy day. Dog friendly.

Cute little cafe hidden away in the Hubbub of Canterbury. There are always seats available. The coffee is very nice (I have it black, so it matters to me). The service is always friendly. This is our go-to place now.

Review: This café in Canterbury is clearly a local favorite, and it’s easy to see why! We visited during the early lunch hour, and it was buzzing with people, but there were plenty of tables available, including a cozy outdoor area with a covering. The service was excellent despite the busy atmosphere, and we had the best chai we’ve ever tasted—rich, aromatic, and perfectly spiced. Although we didn’t get a chance to try the food, the dishes we saw being served looked absolutely delicious. Definitely worth a visit for a great drink and lively ambiance!

If Google could do more than 5 stars this place would get it. Upon arriving I got welcomed at the front door and seated. I think it’s a family run business because they take pride in everything they do. Food was wonderful Staff polite Cafe very clean There’s only two cafe’s I would take my wife too and this is one of them.

I was really impressed with cafe solo. We went there for breakfast and I really couldn't fault the food - I wanted a good fry up and that's exactly what I got. The milkshake here is also some of the best I've had around Canterbury, actually made using ice cream with a dollop of cream on top. The only reason I haven't put 5 stars for the food is because it didn't wow me like my other 5 star reviews, but it was still very decent. The staff were super friendly but gave us the space we wanted to eat together, the space was clean, and we were even surprised with complimentary Turkish delight. Overall, would recommend. They have a small carpark, but there are supermarkets nearby.
